Why are cats boiled alive for food? Don't buy products made in China!?

http://www.weirdasianews.com/2007/08/01/...
Disgusting. And they skin animals alive - read Dominion. There are videos of dogs licking the hand of the person skinning them, trying to get them to stop.
Answers:
What the heck is "encephalization"...doesn't it just mean they have a brain?
Anyway- cats are boiled or clubbed over there in that disgusting place because they want to use the fur to make things. I saw a show about it once and it's vile and horrific.
China and Japan are also destroying our oceans, using
huge nets that take EVERYTHING up- I read that whales that
meet to breed aren't able to because they are malnourished.
Please- that dog story of yours makes me sick- what a world.
i agree, absoloutly disgusting. they should be very ashamed of them selves
People are sick. Best not to think about the stuff like that...as there will always be freaks out there who have no feeling for any other living thing. Terrible.
It's sad, sick, disturbing, and made me not eat for days. I can't stand the thought of it, and people are trying to stop the practice of this. I hate it more then anything.
They eat a lot of strange foods in China. Pig brains, cow fetuses, pig's blood, etc. This is nothing new.
I'd like to point out that we boil lobster alive here. Where's your outrage for the poor lobsters?
I'm a big believer in karma and people that do this sort of thing will definately come to a sad painful end, and that's how it should be.
hmm..we have human rights. but cats arent humans.. Try visiting a slaughterhouse. hehe.. much worst! i think you wont eat meat for a long time when you see how the "killings" is done in the slaughterhouse.. for sure!
There is no way I could ever visit this page.
Another reason to be a vegetarian!
thats f**king disgusting!
thats just gross and cruel and god im glad my cats safe at home with me
I dont believe in lobsters not being boiled..would you rather we ate them ALIVE!!

Also I need sex.

But I wouldnt take it of you... if you were the last woman on earth.

Why are cats always lazy?

Answers:
In the wild, this behavior would conserve energy for the hunt...indoor cats that don't hunt get the "crazies"-a wild fleeting burst of predatorial energy. Mine has them now, he's tearing up and down the hall for no apparent reason.
they're not, they just often sleep (it's a cats' life). i scared off all the mouse/cockroaches with my cats.
On average, a human will sleep 1/3 of their life, a cat will sleep 2/3 or their life. Must be nice!
I don't think they're really lazy -- they just have a very strong relax ethic.
I don't know about your cats but my cat is lazy.
because they can be...
The real question is, is it your cat or cats you've observed appearing to be lazy or are they just napping after some vigorous activity. All the evidence points to cats actually having the length of life-span due to good diet, acitve fun indoor and outdoor playtime and plenty of "cat-naps", plus the possitive attention they receive from us. Just watch a few specials about Big cats (like lions, jungle tigers, desert dwelling pumas and other breeds) you'll see that our domestic little friends act just like their larger wild cousins. Hunting, mating, defending territory, raising young, bonding with others, fighting for position, etc...are all quite similar.
If you have a cat or have watched other cats and think they're lazy, well, you've probably not watched long enough to see one wake up, stretch and preen itself, and trot off to find something to play with or eat, and see how much energy they expend in the process.
I think they sleep to "recharge their batteries" more than to just sleep when tired..lol..
So would we, if we didn't have to work for a living, trust me.
I don't think they are lazy. Cats are hunters and if they no longer have to work, well whats the point of doing anything. They have us making sure they are feed, we give them a good bed to sleep in and we even keep their bathroom nice and clean. I even keep the TV on so they are kept entertained. Heck I would not do anything either. I would be a bum myself just waiting for someone to pat my head and tell me that I was I good girl. LOL I love cats. what a great life.

Why are cats afraid of balloons?

idk my cat just sniffed my balloon on the floor.
and she got spooked.
its a stupid question.
but im waiting for a special answer...%26lt;3
Answers:
In my many experiences with cats and sams, at first they are easily frightened by new and different things than they are used to, given time they will eventually just accept the intrusions...and perhaps.or turdhats...rather than simply accepts, they will embrace...
If you found a strange object in your room...suppose a tom in a t string laying on your bed with the word 'love' written on the scantily cladding undergarmant...then you would probably be a little spooked too, before reaching for a 12 guage pump shot gun to blow his head off...
Love always, tom
I just put an asparagus shoot next to a balloon and it didn't get spooked. I guess my asparagus is smarter than your cat.
Sorry, I consider cats to be the least necessary item on this planet. I like terrorists more than cats.
Just like Humans, Some cats are afraid of everything, some of nothing. I have 2 cats, brother and sister with completely different personalities. Midnight my male is the dominant one who chases and taunts my 78 Pound German Shephard. Dora, my Female only comes out at night but will jump to the top of my refridgerator from the floor. Or leach onto my screen door with her claws and climb up it. They are interesting and funny to watch!
Enjoy Her!

Why are animals like cats kept as pets?

Are they not meant to live like other animals in the wild?
This is just for school.
Answers:
Originally, cats were domesticated (tamed and brought in as pets) because the ancient Egyptians discovered that they were the ideal guards for grain. Grain was (and still is) a valuable item in the desert climate if the middle east, and people suffered from famines, so they stored lots of grain in case they had a bad year. However, mice and rats thought this was a great treat. People needed a way to keep them from eating and peeing and pooping in the grains, so people could eat the grain. Cats were perfect, as they ate (and kept away) the rodents, but cats are pure carnivores (eat only meat) and so they weren't interested in eating the grain themselves at all. From there, they were revered as gods, and people felt important keeping them as pets, and they have always been kept around by humans as pets since then. There are little wild cats in Africa that are thought to be what the early, untamed cats we now keep as pets must have been like.
Air Conditioning, food on demand, that outdoor stuff is overrated
if they have a good owner then they might have a better life
dunno but i like your avatar!! ^_~
Pet cats, like dogs, are domesticated by thousands of years of selective breeding. Most of them would have a very hard time surviving in the wild and require at least some degree of attention from their owners.
cats have been domesticated for the longest time...however (in my own opinion) I believe they can turn undomesticated if forced to.. (IM NOT SAYING THIS IS A GOOD IDEA THO!)
they have been domesticated so they can live in our homes as pets.
No.
Pet cats actual names are Domestic cats (they are in a group of animals called Domestic along with dogs, hamsters, pigs etc.) If you put them in the wild they would probably not be able to survive (if they have lived with you longer than a week!) You here about street cats and stray cats etc. who live on the street, they don't have a good life. If cats were meant to be in the wild then we wouldn't have the Rescue centres all around the world rescueing them and finding them homes to be PETS. And for the animals that are meant to be in the wild like Tigers, we have wildlife organisations around the world, keeping them from being captured for zoos and other entertainment purposes.
I don't know the answer to this one, but what I do know is that I feel honored to have the luxury and privilege to be owned by 3 beautiful cats. That was NOT a typo, really cats own us we don't own them! =O) Have you ever noticed that? I love my babies!!

Well watch their temperment and see if anything pops into your head. Or if your not going to keep them it may make it less hard to give them away if you give them names based on their appearence. blackie stripey tall short skinny etc.
Most of my cats have ended up with odd names based on personality quirks. Ninja acted like a Ninja, tubsy was a fat cat who loved to lay in the tub, Charlie after Charlie sheen who lets face it is a dog (as most men are) turkish based on his eye color. A name is best picked from your own heart.
The best advice I can give on naming pets is to sit down, and look up a baby name web site, go through that for a while, writing down the names that stick out to you. Once you are bored with that, take the list to your new pet and narrow it down to the ones that you think suit him/her best.

Who's cat likes ice-cream?

My cat loves Mr Whippy ice-cream. Other day i was sat in my armchair eating a 99 flake ice-cream when i felt this tugging. My cat was digging her paws in my ice-cream and feeding her face! Looked so cute.
Any of you got cats that do funny thibngs like that?
Answers:
I don't encourage my cat to eat people food, but yeah she's interested in ice cream. I've had to defend my dish a few times when she was getting a little too close. She also drank right out of a glass of milk once (but didn't get much before we yelled and she ran). She's sneaky.
She's the worst about glasses of water, though. I can't leave any water unattended or she'll dip her paws in and slosh the water out. There's been a few times I've gone to take a drink and seen dirt and hair floating in my glass. And when she gets her paw gets wet, she shakes it off and sends water flying everywhere.
Your cat eating out of her paw IS very funny, though. I don't think my cat would sink her paw into any food like that (except water). But she does chew/lick her paws when she's cleaning and I think it's cutest thing. I say "Ginger, don't eat your feet!"
Garfield does,,we all know that
Just so you know, cats can't digest cows milk.
A little won't hurt her, though.
my cat loves tomato soup and lager,he's slurrped both.then come back for more.
My cat loves mint chocolate chip ice cream, but we try to keep him away from that!
One of my cats does. I've caught her licking the empty bowl after I put it in the sink. The other one could care less and won't touch it.
I knew a cat once that liked milkshakes. Vanilla especially :):):)
My cat likes icecream and crisps
Mine steals toffee fudge ice cream if I leave a bit in my bowl. He gets it all over his whiskers and then goes mad trying to clean himself! LOL It's only ever toffee fudge though. No other kind will do. He eats ready salted crisps too. No other flavour.
My 20 pound male cat named Jake likes to lick the bowl of ice cream and he enjoys licking popsicle sticks. He enjoys yogurt to. Yogurt is good for cats to. Only a spoonful but it is still good for them. My cat licks out yogurt containers.
Why is that funny?
It's ice cream... cats will be all over you for it.
I have never met a cat that didn't like ice-cream!!
Your Cat may love ice-cream (most do) but it may not be a good thing to give her. Most cats are Lactose intolerant and ice-cream made with cows milk can make them ill. None of my cats and I've had many over 50 years have ever been able to tolerate milk! They always get diarrhoea!
Cats and dogs also like chocolate but that can kill them and after losing a dog who ate the chocolate off a christmas tree 20 years ago we've always made sure they can't get it.
One thing my cat does do though which looks really cute is use her paws to feed herself chicken. She daintily picks it out of her bowl and if she drops it picks it up and eats it off her paw. She doesn't do it with any other meat!
We have four cats, and they all love ice cream. I only let them have a little bit, but they devour it. I usually give them some of my vanilla milkshake, too. The baby of the group, Ruby, will eat anything she can get to.
Stewart is very lazy... Sometimes he lays next to his food bowl and uses his paw to pull morsels of food out so he can eat them.
Hank loves Pringles, and he'll use his paw to look to see if there are actually chips in the container, and if so, he pulls it over and helps himself to one.
Jessie just gives Daddy the "eyes" and she instantly gets a bowl of milk. He's a sucker.
All in all they are very spoiled, very loved cats..
Your Cat will get Diarrhea.
http://bellaonline.com/article/art1723...
my cat is fussing and dont like it that much
my dog does. if we have one he had to have one as well
My furry friend likes a tiny bit of ice cream when I have it, though I am careful not to give him too much. Cow's milk (the kind bought from a store not FRESH from their udder) is not good for them. He also LOVES the Hostess raspberry filled donuts (which are SERIOUSLY bad for him)! I give him those about once a year! We discovered this one day while I was munching on them. The furry one (a kitten freshly brought home) reached around me from the arm of the couch to swipe the donut out of my hand. He then proceeded to drop it on the floor, kill it with extreme prejudice, and eat everything but the powder left on the floor. I was laughing so hard I didn't have the breath to scold him!
Sugar is actually poisonous to cats and dogs. They'll either get really sick or die or both. I know some cats seem to like ice cream or w.e but you really shouldn't feed stuff like ice cream, chocolate, or candy to them if you really care about your pet's well being.
Quote: It鈥檚 a fairly well known fact that chocolate %26 Tylenol is toxic to cats, but here鈥檚 a list of common foods and household items that you may not have known are harmful to kitties:

Mine! My 16 year old pensioner boy, Nimbus, loves vanilla. He also loves yoghurt (soya based, not dairy!!) and often gets the lid to lick to death, round and round the living room...
my 2 yr old cat loves cheese and onion crisps shes only got to sniff them and shes all over u
yeah they also like cheese,i give my cats cow milk and they are fine.
My 6 month old kitten loves vanilla flavour.
I've had several cats who loved icecream. They also liked fresh fruit.

Who would win in a fight? Cat Stevens or John Cougar?

Answers:
Cat Stevens once threatened to Kill Salman Rushdie, while John Cougar seems pretty mellow. I got my money on Yusef.
In a musical battle, Cat Stevens wins.
In a physical battle, John Cougar. Remember, Cat Stevens rides the peace train.
I think John Cougar is the bigger cat in that fight.
as pope john paul always says, fighting is for Cat stevens and John cougar. it would be a never ending battle
I think this should be placed in the proper section
Probably John Cougar because Cat Stevens (Yusef) has mellowed out quite a bit.

Lol! Same with mine, they are indoor kitties :)
i dont have a cat
Well, I surely didn't--mine's strictly an INDOOR only cat.
sorry but it wasnt me, we dont have a kittycat. I only have gerbils.
It wasnt my mum or brother as they only have dogs
My daughter has a cat so it might have ben her who put the cat out... not that the kitty ever stays inside during the daytime
I didn't know it was on fire.
The cat let itself out.
Hi, Not me, i try to keep my cat's in especially at night, it is dangerous for cat's to be out at night they can start wandering and get lost. I also have a job on to get them to go out this weather, they hate the rain.
I can't I don't have a garden so my cat lives in a flat on secon floor.
if it was on fire then i have to addmit it was me. if u mean outside then am not guilty. 1. don't have a cat 2. don't know were u live to put yours out and 3. which bloody cat?
Who let him back in?
My dog did it.
The fire brigade.

Who likes cats?

I do. I've always had cats. My parents have two at the moment. I wish I could have one (or two), but I live on a very busy road..
Answers:
I have several disabled cats who have to remain indoors for their own safety. One is deaf, another has only one eye and very limited sight.
So they are housecats and seem very happy with this, and i know a lot of other people with housecats who have no problems either.
With the problems of heavy traffic, as well as those of yobs who delibrately catch pets for their own sick entertainment it is becoming much more common for people to keep their cats indoors.
So long as they have things to entertain them this is not cruel in any way.
If you love cats, I would say go for it and get one, or even two so they keep each other entertained.
But please go to your local animal rescue and not a shop.
I love cats!
You could just keep indoor cats. They usually live longer than outdoor cats.
so get a cat and keep it indoors...both of my cats have always lived indoors and they are both very happy
cats are not that stupid but do get run over just like us
p.s do like cats
Not me, I'm very wary of most cats. If it's obvious that they want to be friendly, then fine I'll be friendly too, Kittens are gorgeous. But so many cats glower and hiss.
I have 2 Norwegian Forest cats called Merlin and Delphi. Brother and sister, 4 years old next month.
I also have 3 dogs which they get on well with.
Cats rule!
I have three and i love them.
Me too. Thats why I have an invisible cat - and it doesnt eat much. I always stop to pat any cats I meet in my travels. If you just say hello, they will probably answer back.
i love kittens
proud owner of four
so keep them indoors with a litterbox...best of all possible worlds...
I love cats and any other animal.
We have a grey tabby cat at the moment called Albert (we didn't name him) he was adopted. He is gorgeous (asleep and snoring next to me at the moment) he may be a little bit thick but he is a character. He chose to live with us, not vise versa.
Before Albert we had two sister cats called 'Porgy and Bess'
Love them! I currently have 4 and they are all very special to me.
Love em - I've got 3 and they're all mad!
Cats stay inside. You shouldn't be too worried about the cats getting hit by a car unless you give the cat a chance to wonder off on its own outside. Most people have cats inside, so it wouldn't matter if you live on a very busy road. Make sure they go outside with your supervision.
I love all animals.
I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 snakes.
One of the cats is sitting on the desk in front of me as I type this.
omg i love cats but my stinkin parents won't let me have one bc they had a bad experience with one, but i told them not all cats are so destructive
i think you can still get a cat even if you live on a busy road..my friend has a lot of cats and she lives on one of the busiest roads in our town...so far NONE of her cats have died from getting hit...if you still don't feel safe with a cat on a busy road you should try an indoor cat
I have three awesome cats that like to go out in my fenced backyard but I'd never let them outside anywhere else. Most of the time they are very happy indoors so if you want a cat, get a cat but keep it inside. It isn't that difficult to take care of them and you will have much more peace of mind in knowing that the bad outside stuff isn't getting them.
I love cats. My husband doesn't like them - but then he doesn't like very much - Victor Meldrew (the original).
I am sad for you, but a wise move. I too have always loved cats. I have one right now, she is 12 years old and plays fetch even though my dog wont. She is odd, but then again she is mine!!!!!
As you live on a busy road, I wish you had 100 of them!!
Only kidding, we have 2, but they are great fun.
Long live cats.
The little bastard's
not me i prefer dogs
I love cats. I should, I have three. And they're all mine.
i hate cats as my gran would say they are like 'imps from hell'!!
Why would living on a busy road stop you from having cats? Surely you wouldn't be so cruel as to throw them outdoors to play in the traffic? If you like cats then get a cat or two, but keep it safe and away from the perils of cars. Indoor cats are safest and not only avoid RTAs but also a host of nasty diseases.
Love love love them. I have four. We rescued a pregnant stray and she gave us three beautiful kittens. They are indoor cats with an outdoor enclosure.
I love cats too! I have 3 - 1 older cat and 2 kittens.
I love them. =^^=
Do you own your own place if so you could fence in your yard and have one or two cats than. My aunt has done that with her home and the fence is down low so they can't get under it and pretty darn high too so they can't go over it.with that said her newest cat Nemo well she call's him Nemo demo at times.he figured how to climb on the top of the fence it's pretty darn high up and it started raining really hard while he was walking about so he looks on both sides and they are high up and she is hoping he thinks that the rain was a punishment to not do it again lol...he is safely on the ground. Sometimes he gets grounded %26 doesn't get to go outdoors and than he bawls alot lol...you can hear him fussing when we talk on the phone lol...
That is how my auntie does it with her three cats they are able to go out on her deck out the patio doors to enjoy the outdoors in her fenced in back yard. So that is a thought.
Also having a house cat or two isn't so bad either.I have my own cat and my teens each have their own too. I would die with out my cat. He is the best!
I have even used a harnass and leash and taken him outdoors for walks and he loves it! My parents thought it was Nutz but as a kitten is when I started so he and his sister don't mind but they do try to sneak out of the home at times too.
Where I live I am not able to fence in a back yard but I did one night go to the dog park in our area and let the cats take a quick run in there with out leashes and they loved it!!
So I hope if your heart is wanting a cat and if it's possible go to your local shelter and find a family member there with fur...
You won't regret it one iota and it's wonderful to come home and be wrapped in kitty purrs and love.
=^^=
Sandy's human being.aka Laura =^^=
My friend lives on a VERY busy road in the middle of town and she has 5 cats - they are all house cats and never go outside.
I live in a quiet residential area and my cat is very, very old, rather deaf - and out at the moment.
=^..^=

Edit: She's back in now and snoring on the sofa - you gotta love 'em, don't ya?

Who has taken their cat to a pet psychic?

Did you find out anything that helped you care for your cat? I am serious...
Answers:
I talk to my animals and they talk back. Really. Animals communicate in thought forms. Picture in your mind what you want to convey to them. Then project that thought to them or into their minds. They will respond. Be open to any thought forms they send back to you. It's really easy and you'll love it.
I have not taken my cat to a pet psychic and I don't think I would because I don't believe that the psychic can tell me anything that the vet can't tell me. In fact, the cat could probably tell me more than the psychic.
an animal's mind is much deeper than people think. pet psychics can find out problems with pets that have no logical
answers. i have known many people who have benefited from this experience. i communicate psychically with all animals.
I haven't. But there are two good pet stores in my area and both have featured animal communicators. At one store, the woman claims to be able to give advice based on just a picture. At the other, you need to bring your cat in.
It's one of those things I'd like to do, have meant to do, but haven't gotten around to.
I think it would be fun though! While I do believe in "psychic" stuff, I'm also not a moron - I would definitely question the source of any statements, and I would never take advice without thoroughly researching it first.
Plus, animal communication is a new trend. As such, it's just as subject to fakes as any other psychic area.
I'm interested but cautious.

Who has a water fountain for their cats?

I want to get the girls a fountain, mainly because Flexo comes running every time I turn water on (no matter where she is or what she is doing!). Anyway, I am having trouble deciding because all the reviews that I have read (on the 3 main fountains out there) basically say that cats love them but they are a pain to maintain. Any advice or preferences for a certain fountain?

I use the Catit bubble fountain for my cats. They love it because the water runs around the whole outside of the plastic bubble. There is going to be maintenance involved with any of them. I also used a Fresh Flow one until it finally died after 6 years of use. The catit is easier to clean in my opinion, and holds more water than the fresh flow. Both are good, but either one has to be cleaned about once a week, up to once every two weeks. Harder water requires more frequent cleaning. Hope this helps a little.
I have one for mine and they love it - I got it at goodwill tho %26lt;g> Nice and cheap and still works like a charm. Mine love running water and it's a darn site cheaper to have it running this way than to leave a faucet running all the time. I haven't had a bit of trouble maintaining mine. I clean it once a week and fill it up between times. My son has a different brand - they both work the same so I see no reason to differentiate by brand - find one you like and go for it! I think your kitties will love you for it!!
i think that if it is for the better of ur cat it would be worth it to have to maintain it. i would go for it because cats hate still water. they like fresh flowing water
no one has a water fountain for their cats only speacial needs cats use fountains, so dont waste your money if u really want a fountain, buy a hampster they will drink from it
i'm thinking of getting onefor my 3, they always have fresh water but love to sip from the taps as far as i know a fountain is easy to maintain it's just a case of making sure it's cleaned regular and the filter is changed as often as should be....
i have my eye one one just now (can't remember the brand but one of the main ones) just make sure whatever you get the filters are easy to find
well my cat hates water, but if she did I really wouldn't spend the money on a fountain when she could just go in the bath tub!!!
I had a fountain for my 3 cats. It was a $70 fountain with a reserve tank for extra water. My eldest cat loves playing with water and everyday she completely destroyed the water fountain by knocking over the reserve tank. I had to fix the fountain every day which made it very difficult for me to maintain. It also made it hard for me to go on vacation, because I never knew if they would have enough water available to them. So if your cat likes to play with water or you dont have alot of patience, then dont get one.
I have a pretty basic model, the 50oz "Deluxe Petmate Fresh Flow Purifying Pet Fountain" and I got it at Petco for about $40. With more than one cat you might want to get the larger model. I refill the reservoir once a day and I have one cat. I clean it whenever it looks dirty, which isn't more than once a week. Maybe once a month (at most) I have to take it apart and clean the pump intake because it gets clogged with cat hair and other crud that falls into the bowl. The fountain is normally VERY quiet, but it's gets noisy when the pump is clogged, so it's quite obvious when it needs to be done. I'm not sure what the norm is for replacing the filters...maybe once every two months to be safe, maybe longer (the instructions don't actually say anything about that). The replacement filters are pretty cheap I think.
I love having it and so does my cat. She played and splashed in it a little when it was new, but she got used to it and now just drinks from it whenever she needs to. It's much better than a stagnant bowl of water.
I have one called Catit. It's really good, has a dome and a little water dish part. My cat loves it. It's not that hard to maintain at all. I wash it once a week with a paper towel/cloth, rinse the filter etc. It's really simple. And my cat hasn't been to the sink since ;) there's also an "economy" version for about $10 less that doesn't have the "dish" part but the cats can drink from the dome directly and it takes up less space. Beware though as it can be a little noisy. So it's ok in the living room but probably not a bedroom.
We have a drinkwell fountain, and my kitty loves it! We even take it with us on vacation.
It was money very well spent :)
My cats love those fountains but yes they are a pain in the @ss to clean. My solution was to have an extra one, clean sitting on the shelf. When it was time to clean the one in operation I could take my time because I had a replacement waiting in the wings.
That is what I recommend.
I got my waterer and feeder from www.autopetfeeder.com. I got the medium sized ones and it works great for my cat. The water one has a filter and a 3 gallon water reserve. the water actually in the dish is constantly circulated and filtered. Kitty loves it and it's fairly easy to maintain. Plus you don't have to worry about refilling it so often.

Who had a young cat give birth ?

anyone here had a cat about 1 year old give birth to 4 or more kittens and live threw it along with all its kittens and have no problems ? and if you did have problems what were the problems ? did any of the kittens die ? did the mother die ?
Answers:
My cat has had 2 litters of kittens and she is about that age. No problems at all! They were obviously in heat when they got pregnant, so that means that they are mature enough and ready. Don't worry about it! It's natural and the cats know how to take care of their babies by instinct. If you ever come across any problems you can always take your cat and her babies to a nearby vet and they can help you out.
My cat was about 9 months old when she had kittens... she had 6 of them and one did die about a day later. The mom and all the other kittens were, and still are, fine.
well, i once had a kitty named Little Meow Meow.
And she had babies when she was like 5 months old.
Yes there was a slight problem when she had her babies they had their tails a bit broken, due to her stomach being to small. But we kept one of her kittys and they were a healthy outdoor cat we had for around 3 or 4 years.
Most cat breeders say that having kittens at the age of one year is acceptable...so no worries
no because I'm a responciable pet owner and get my animals fixed.

Who ca i call to ask if no pets in the lease only refers to dogs and cats?!?

help
Answers:
Ask the landlord. Usually if it says no pets, it means no animals of any kind. If it says no cats and dogs, then it means no cats and dogs and it will usually specify which small animals are OK (fish, birds, caged animals under a certain size, etc).
Your landlord or property management company.
What??
Call the landlord or leasing office.
Your landlord is the only one who can answer that question. Normally "No Pets' means no pets. Fish tank could leak, Hamsters %26 mice could escape cage, rabbits potty every where, birds can be very noisy and chew, etc.
No pets is going to refer to anything that can damage the apartment. About the only pet that would not would be a bug or a fish. Anything else, even if normally in a cage, does get out and can mess up a rug with stains or odors.
the landlord, but what do wanna take a f-ing kangaroo
Your landlord or management company or super. Some places will not allow aquariums, for obvious reasons, and many will not allow large parrots because of the noise. This all depends on your landlord.

sorry, I haven't heard of any of those.

Which plant species is more toxic to cats, Umbrella Tree or Ficus Tree?

We were given two potted indoor trees as a gift. One is an Umbrella Tree, and the other is a Ficus Tree. We want to keep at least one of them, as they are very pretty, but we are worried about our cats.
Our cats have never been known to chew any of our other house plants, but we don't want for one slip-up on their parts to be very toxic or even fatal!
I know some plants are more toxic than others, but maybe someone can shed more light on which (if either plant) is worse.
Answers:
Neither of those plants are toxic to cats. They may chew the leaves and then throw up, but not because they've been poisoned. One of my cats never saw a plant she didn't want to nibble and shred.
Basically, all parts of any plant that grows from a bulb are poisonous.
Here is an illustrated list of toxic houseplants
http://www.aspca.org/site/pageserver?pag...
and an article on how to train your cat not to nibble plants

www.petcaretips.net/cat_eats_h...
I don't know anything about an umbrella tree, but I can assure you from first hand experience, if you really like this Ficus tree (and I loved mine)---keep your cat/cats away from it! No, they are not toxic to cats, and mine ate my entire Ficus tree---I was left with an empty twig. Naturally, the tree died. The cat, however is just fine.
both can be toxic if the eat enough moth balls taped to pot or layed on soil will detour them also get a squrit bottle with water when u see them go for the plant give them a squirt will not hurt in any way but cats don't like water on them and the scare will tell them to stay away good luck

Which pet is best to keep at home a dog or a cat and why?

I dont know whether it is a myth or not but i have heard that when dog is kept as pet ,it thinks that if any new person is born in family so he will get food from one more person as well on the contrary cat thinks if any person of family is died then it will get food of that dead person to her ,i heard. This is the basic difference between a dog and a cat . this view does not go away from my mind if i want to keep a cat as my pet since i love cats but my family members are forbidding me due to aforesaid reason. suggest me
Answers:
Okay. If you are intelligent enough to use a computer you must be kidding on that whole mess you just wrote. I surely hope your family is not that. backward.
A dog is good if you want a companion to go places with you, are home enough to let it out to do it's business.. don't take a lot of trips and can afford the vet bills and food. I personally think it's cruel to leave a dog home alone more than 6 hrs unless it's small enough to use a puppy pad to "go", or has access to a safe fenced area through a doggie door.
A cat is good if you are away more but want a pet who will sit with you quietly when you are home...don't mind changing a litter box, don't mind if the furniture gets a bit scratched and can afford the vet bills and food.
I'm a cat person - but will consider a dog when I'm retired.
I have no idea where you heard that and i dont really understand it. Cats and Dogs are not people and as such do not connect birth or death of a human with getting food. I may have misunderstood what you are saying?
There are several differences between cats and dogs. Dogs are pack animals and require a firm but fair and consistent leader. They require regular exercise and obedience training.
Cats have a heirarchy but it is less defined. You dont need to take them for walks, they are more self sufficient and are clean animals.
Cats and dogs are both wonderful companions in their own special ways.
i dont know what yiou mean by the explanation to y cats are different to dogs but it sounds like a load of croc.
get a cat theyre just better, dogs suck.
But i guess that depends on what sort of pet you want, anyway cats r better!
okey-who ever told you this needs to be in a padded room so please let someone know who it is. and for you please do not tell anyone this anymore!!!! now i fell a cat is best to let stay afew day in the house by its self.the cat has a litter boxes to go in always use fresh step cat litter it keeps smell down more then any other litter. and always put a large bowl of water and cat food when you are away. now think of all the things you have to do for a dog. you have to take the dog out every few hours to use the bathroom for one .Good luck!!have a nice day!!!!!!

Which kitten food is better iams or meow mix?or any other good kitten foods?

Answers:
Neither are good.
Some good brands are Wellness, Californias Natural, and Innova. You want a food where the main ingredient is a meat, not MEAT, but like chicken, beef, turkey. You want very little grains, and NO meat-by-products. Read the lables.
I forgot to add that I feed wet food, not dry, so again, you want to look for a meat as the main ingedient, not a meat meal. Looking at a can of Wellness Beef and Chicken, the main ingredients are listed in the following order: Beef, Chicken Liver, Chicken, Chicken Broth. Wellness is grain free and contains no preservatives or artifical flavors.
For my cats, wet is best. They are at a healthy weight, and no longer sleep as much or beg for water anymore. Even when they had a constant supply of water, on a low quality dry diet, they wanted every drop of water in the world.
I feed 2 wet meals a day (12 hours apart) to my two cats, they split a 5.5 oz can at each meal, and they get a small handful of Wellness dry food as a mid-day snack.
I buy Purina Kitten Chow, I am going to do it
untill she is six months old. Then I am going
to swithch her to Purina Indoor Cat Chow.
You should try that, or you could also buy,
Purina Outdoor Formula for your outdoor
cats!
Hope I Helped!!
Meow mix is better then iams. Other good foods are purina. They have a naturals, indoor cat food in a green bag,Nutro for cats dry is good also.
cats are very picky though. Like my 2 cats they are very picky. they like some foods better then others.
Their favorite wet food is Friskies.
Iams test their products on domestic animals in cruel conditions. For example, to test whether their dental health blend is beneficial, they surgically cut away the gums of healthy animals, then study how well (or not) their product impacts on the injuries. I would not consider buying any products from a company that does this, pet food or otherwise.
Of those two, Iams is. However, they're both full of fillers and by-products for the most part, and not anything I would recommend feeding. The best, decently cheap dry foods are Nutro, Wellness, and Natural Balance. Some more high-quality foods - and the foods I recommend - are Felidae, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, and Innova.
You want the first ingredients to be meal (ie, chicken meal, lamb meal), not meats (ie, chicken), as meats are primarily moisture, and therefore are reduced up to 2/3rds after processing, making the food grain-based rather than meat-based (cats are carnivores, they do not need grains). Meals, on the other hands, are primarily dry, and don't decrease as drastically after processing, leaving the food truly meat-based.
You also don't want a food that contains fillers (such as corn), by-products, or non-specific meat sources (ie, meat meal). Preservatives such as BHT, BHA, ethoxyquin, and propyl gallate are also best to avoid. :-)
MJF said exactly what I was going to say.. IAMS participates in cruel animal testing.. My cat loves California Natural, Evolve, Innova and Merrick.
Cats are one of the only strictly meat eating animals. They need a 100% meat diet so it is wise to get a very good quality food that says it is mostly if not all meat. Innove Evo is one of the best because it doesn't even have garlic and garlic according to the National ASPCA Poison Control Center is poisonous to cats. Another very good one is Natural Balance Venison and Pea formula because it has no preservatives or extra additives. WySong products are also good ones to try and California Natural is made by the Innova people but I think that one has garlic in it so I wouldn't use any with garlic. Why take the chance on eventually harming your cat if it gets enough garlic in it to be lethal. When dealing with cat food, you want to mimic the closest to natural and living in the wild as you can so using moist instead of dry is even better for your feline. They wouldn't be hunting dry kibbles in the wild. If you must do dry, they I suggest you put a meat broth (homemade style) on it so that they get enough moisture intake from their food. Cats that live on dry get medical problems a lot quicker due to the fact that they are not getting the moisture in their systems as they should. Also, if you do use dry kibbles, switch to a drinking fountain water dish for your cats, following the manufactures suggestions for keeping it healthy. Cats will drink from a running stream before they will drink from a stagnet pool in the wild and domestic cats are no different so they will drink more water from the fountain to help get their moisture. Most of the really healthy foods out here go by the weight of the animal so you do not need kitten chow, you feed according to weight of the cat. And, kittens are allowed free food choice until they are a year old. In other words, they can have all that they want during their growing up years. Sometimes the vet will start portioning it at or around 9 months if the cat is well in their adult range of weight.
Iams is over priced. Purina is good. the company has spent millions over the years developing the formulas for their different blends. Meow mix and Friskies are also good. For the first 6 months at least get a kitten mix. It will have all the vitamins and minerals a young cat needs.
I have always used Science Diet to feed my cats and they are very healthy. Your cat's health is worth it! Better food helps them to avoid liver, kidney and other health problems down the road.
Science Diet Kitten Formula and Wellness are the best kitten foods I know of, and I know of A LOT of different kitten foods!
Well it doesn't matter what is better. It's what your cat likes. What you might think is better he might not like it. Try feeding him different kinds of food until you find out what he likes. 鈾?
Well, health %26 growth-wise, Iams is the best. Now, whether your kitten will eat it or not is another question. If you start them right out on Iams or Science Diet, the kitten WILL eat it because he/she can't miss something she/he's never had--such as Meow Mix, Friskies, Fancy Feast, etc. Read the package labels. Cats are carnivores, and the MEAT--chicken, beef, lamb, whatever MUST be the FIRST item on the list of ingredients. Many of the cheaper brands will list "chicken by-products" as the first ingredient--don't use these. The by-products are mostly fat and don't contain the protein necessary for a growing kitten. They also use a lot of "fillers" such as cornmeal, etc. These are low-quality products for cats. Although they are fine for dogs. Now, if this is your first kitten--then you may need some further feeding advice. Do NOT give a kitten/any cat MILK (the kind that humans drink, including evaporated milk), or any type of milk-based product--cheese, yogurt, ice cream, cottage cheese, etc. Most cats are lactose intolerant, and not only will milk products give cats a belly ache, it also gives them diahreah. Also--NO people TUNA! It is way too high in magnesium, mercury and sodium and is NOT good for a cat. And, NEVER, NEVER give a cat chocolate--you could kill your kitty. But, if you can get your kitten to eat Iams or Science Diet--these 2 are your very best bets. Now, if your kitten LIKES Meow Mix, there's nothing wrong with using a few of the dry pieces for "treats". Mine happens to like Tender Vittles as treats--but not in his food dish. So, it's OK to get a couple of the small boxes/bags of different things such as Meow Mix, Tender Vittles, etc., but dole them out VERY sparingly, and do NOT leave him a dish of this stuff out to eat at will or you'll find your kitten "piging-out" on the treats and not eating what's good for him/her.
Both are substandard.
You don't need to give your kitten "kitten" food. It's nothing more than marketing hype.
Choose a good quality canned food, and your kitten will thrive!
Iams does Animal Testing, so naturally Meow Mix is better. Purina and Pedigree also do animal testing. Meow Mix or Special Kitty are much better and healthier. My cat prefers the Turkey flavored Meow Mix. Hope this helped!!

Which kind of cat is more better for a townhouse or apartment?

Answers:
You should absolutely look into adopting a Ragdoll baby!! I have just done a lot of research to find the type of kitten to suit our family and I had one of the same reasons as you! I wanted something that wouldn’t hurt all our beautiful wildlife, an indoor cat, and one that would withstand my 4 year olds constant need to play with her lol!! So after looking into a lot of breeds we chose the Ragdoll and fell in love! Here is some info on the Ragdoll I just got off a website but if you look at any breeders websites in your town/city you will get heaps of information!
Ragdoll owners will tell you that they are completely captivated by their Ragdolls'
sweet, loving, layback temperament.
That they will absolutely steal you heart away, and completely infatuate you.
They are perfect companions for the elderly as well as singles and families, they
get along, introduced correctly, with almost anyone and anything.
They are very well suited to small apartments, townhouses, etc as they are totally
INDOOR cats and are perfectly happy to lie around enjoying the luxury and safety
of your and their own home.
They are very much a people cat, wanting to be with you wherever you go, watching
everything you do. (a bit like a puppy dog).
I say to people, If you do not want a cat that absolutely adores you, follows you
everywhere, is under your feet all the time, sleeps on your bed, lies on your paper
work on the computer desk while you are trying to work, to get your attention, waits
outside the shower door for you to finish, wants to know everything that is going on,
THEN A RAGDOLL IS NOT FOR YOU!
Your Ragdoll will even want to take you to the bathroom! Mine do. LOL
Ragdolls are strictly INDOOR cats that love and depend upon their owners for their
safety, as they do not have a defensive nature, and are unable to protect themselves
against the outside world and all of its dangers.
In return for you supplying them with a warm, caring and safe home, they will give
YOU, their owners, an endless supply of love and affection.
Your life will be filled with a special warmth because of their presence.
Good luck choosing your new baby, as long as you have heaps of toys, scratching post and time to spend with you cat most breeds will be ok indoors, Ragdolls are just made for it though! If you do go with the ragdoll, make sure you look around a lot, and be prepared to wait as they are a popular breed (I waited 10 weeks cause I was lucky and found someone who just had babies so I didn’t have to go on a waiting list) there are some people out there that just want to make money, be sure to trust who you get your kitten from and make sure they are raised to have the amazing Ragdoll temperament!
“Ragdolls are big docile cats that get their name because they just flop when picked up. It is very rare that a Ragdoll will show its claws and for this reason they are strictly INDOOR cats as they will not defend themselves!!”
This is so true, my kitten just flops like a baby when I pick her up and she lets my son carry her around the house ALL day long!! Most other cats would have had enough of my 4 year old after the 1st 5 minutes lol. She is so cute (as all kittens are) and has the most beautiful big blue eyes!! Ragdolls eyes stay blue. She has the loveliest personality and as soon as I walk into a room she starts to purr she is always on my lap wanting some love and giving it back in return :)
An older cat at least 4 years old. They have mellowed out more, you will be able to judge it's personality much easier. I find fixed males are more laid back. A kitten can be hyper and if you live above someone the running around will drive your neighbors nuts. Petsmart is a good place to adopt because they usually can tell you something about the cats demeanor.
as persians are a fairly sedate breed of cat they are purrrfect (i couldn't help myself) for an apartment or townhouse..or maybe a ragdoll ,they're even lazier
i have a ragdoll mixed with snow shoe and he's relaxed
Any cat will do well in an apartment or townhouse. Cats have no need to ever be outside and will adjust nicely to new living arrangements. It just takes a few days. Just give kitty time to adjust. Make sure escape routes are blocked until kitty learns to enjoy his/her new home. Please consider adoption from a shelter giving some nice cat a second chance at living over paying a breeder. It won't cost half as much.
A legless cat is best of all - or should I say bestest of all?
well I would get a Siamese they live the longest are the most playful and prettiest of all breeds and there more like baby's than cats
maine coons make great house cats (plus they are very sweet)

Which food can you give to a hedgehog-one has wandered into our garden.i heard either dog or cat food?

thanks for any help
Answers:
Do not give milk to hedgehogs as it gives them diarrhoea and they can die from malnutrition. supplement their diet with cat or dog food, small pieces of meat or chicken and even crushed peanuts in small amounts.. there's a great website that explains a hedgehogs natural diet and then gives advice on what you can and can't feed them. its great that you are helping to feed the hedgehogs in your garden..:)
http://www.thehedgehog.co.uk/diet.htm...
I usuallly give them cat food and a bowl of milk or water.
you can give them cat food and water. dont give them milk
yea give it cat food or dog food as they r meat eaters and leave out sum water good luck
dont give hedgehog milk not good for them u can buy food at pets at home for them 30 p a tin dog food ok in smalll amounts all the best take care
i think that they like dog food
ooh how cute! and nice...x
give it warm cat or dog food...or maybe seeds and nuts!
i had a hedgehog in my postbox..my dog tried to annoy him so he stung him hahah..remember they don't like cold food!
I've heard the same, dog or cat food too.
Don't make a regular habit of leaving some out for them though. Just an occaisonal one off, they'll smell it a mile off. They are wild animals and must continue to find food in their natural way and not become lazy by having an easy source put on a plate for them.
i had some in my garden
i gave them cat food they seem to like that
i put them in a bucket and put them in the local park away from the road...
Cat food and water. Or you can buy an insect mix like you would feed baby birds. Thats expensive though.
They are good for your garden they eat slugs etc!
Cat or dog meat in jelly, use a plate or shallow dish!
Try %26 put it in the same place always!
Hi please do not give the hedgehog milk as they are " Lactose-Intolerant" , having dairy products will make them quite ill. (even though they like it).
DOG and CAT food are better than dairy but both are often too high in fat and too low in protein for the hedgehog.
It is best to leave a small treat , leaving appetite for the pests in ones garden.
Their diet consists of , birds eggs (so if you have an egg!), grassroots, melons, watermelons, mushrooms toads , frogs, snails and insects, with a big liking for berries.
Hope you find this useful
My friend helps out at the local hedgehog rescue centre. They advise to leave tinned cat foot and water for your visiting hedgehog.
yeh they like dog or cat food, and u7 could dig up worms and stuff i guess.

In the mean time, give it some chicken-flavoured cat food mushed in with water.
This happened to me a little while ago. I put out cat food for it at first (sheba), but it was so inept at being a hedgehog that it was awake in the day, and slept at night (but slept in the open, not under a hedge or anything!). By the third day of it being in the garden, it was in such a bad way that I took it into my house and called a rescue centre, who told me what to do that night, before I brought him over to the hadgehog rescue centre in the morning. I spent the next two hours getting the flies eggs off him, covering the ticks in olive oil so that they would drop off, and swabbing his mouth to get the maggots out. I'd left it too late; by the next day, he was dead. Don't let the same happen to yours!
Cat food is the best food to give them also give them water not milk as the milk will upset their tummys.
cat food, and a bowl of water. Do not give milk. It gives them squits!
Use dog food but ony put it out if it wont attract other dogs to your garden cos that will be bad news for both the dog and the hedgehog.
Meal worms, cat food, uncooked seasoned meat,Caterpillars
I found this off of Wikipedia
Hedgehogs eat both plus any meat at all. We've been leaving food out for a fox and our hedgehogs eat most of it before foxy even gets a chance!

Which flavor of liquid benadryl do cats actually like?

I bought cherry (on suggestion from the vet) flavored benadryl and they hate it. No way to get it in their mouth, foaming mouth, etc.
BTW: We want to sedate them for a LONG (12 hour+) car ride. Any alternative suggestions?
Answers:
I give both my cats Benadryl based on what the vet told me. The only differnece is I use one adult pill for each cat. its much easier to stick in there moulth and hold it in there till they swallow. Give it a try
It is dangerous to give your cat benadryl! You need to go to the vet and get sedatives made for cats. Giving them human medicine can cause organ failure. If you set up a crate in the back of the car so they can be comfortable most cats will settle down and be ok on a long trip.
Cats usually do not like any flavored medication--they will drool etc. I am not sure how big your cats are but ask the vet if you can cut up benadryl tablets and dose them that way.
Another alternative is dramamine, which is sold over the counter. This is usually used for motion sickness but also causes drowsiness like the benadryl.
Good luck.
The vet might be able to prescribe some acepromazine for their car ride. You would have to speak to him regarding how much to give. We usually prescribe it for cats and dogs who have trouble at the groomers or have a lot of stress when coming to the vets. It's usually given 1 to 2 hours before the grooming or appointment. It only takes the edge off, it doesn't knock them out completely...just calms them.
As for the benadryl, the best way to give it is with an eyedropper or a syringe from the vet. You would put the syringe in the side of their mouth where the jaw meets and squeeze it into the back of their throats. Then hold their mouth closed and gently blow into their faces. It makes them swallow and that might help alleviate the foaming. Cherry is probably the best flavor as we flavor our liquid medication that we need to make up with a cherry flavoring.
If worse comes to worse, you may need to get something from the vet in a pill form. I have a lot better luck giving a pill then a liquid.
cod-liver oil with HALF a dose of diluted regular benedryl. If they get a whiff of the cherry or other sweet smelling syrup, the cat will clam up like a clam.(clam juice might be okay also!)! Check with the vet about diluting the regular benedryl
Plan to take the cat to the vet for a check-up after the trip!

Have a safe trip and Good luck!
I find the query strange indeed. Ask the vet to supply what is safe and effective for the cats so their ride is pleasant and your trip is worthwhile.

Which cats don't shed and can you Kennel a cat like a dog?

Answers:
The only cats that do not shed are the hairless ones, so the Sphinx.
You can kennel a cat, they don't like it, but there are cat-boarding "kennels".
They all shed, some more, some less %26 yes they have kennels for cats to
Any cat (or dog) with hair will shed. If you mean board a cat at a kennel, yes, some boarding facilites do cater to cats and have special boarding rooms just for them. If you mean keep a cat confined to a kennel - you can, but it's cruel.
Hairless cats (Sphynx, Peterbald, Kohana) are the only cats that don't shed (they leave skingrease behind though, and prepare to pull your chequebook as they're not cheap) and no, kenneling cats is very very stressful to them.
I was told by some ignorant breeder once that his caged cat was eating his own tail - and he had no clue why.
If you consider how big the territory of a feral cat is, it's just about acceptable to keep cats in a house. A kennel is plain cruel, and will leave a cat with severe behavioral problems.
If you have problems with hairs, or are afraid any of your stuff might get damaged, please don't get a cat, it wouldn't be the right pet for you- you wouldn't be the right owner for a cat.
the only cats that don't shed are hairless but they're ugly and are all greasey ew
a devon rex and a cornish rex shedding is minimal but they aren't very attractive either they have unusually large ears, and the cornish looks kind of like an ugly dog...
a cat can be kenneled, but it's not really necessary, and they don't really enjoy it.
if you clean out their litter box and leave food for the week for them they will be very happy. but if it's too long then you should have someone come over and give them more food and clean their litter box intermittently. they won't ruin your house like a dog will while you're gone though.
if you're looking for a pet that doesn't shed then some dogs grow hair instead of fur, like a shih-tzu or a lahpso ahpso (i'm not sure how to spell that). their hair grows long like a humans instead of falling out. lots of owners choose to cut their hair short. so any hair that falls out (just like human hair) is still small.
i know you dont need my opinion, but if one of your main concerns about a pet is if they can be kenneled then maybe you dont have enough time to keep a pet right now. all pets require a lot of attention just like children. unless you're getting a fish or something, but even then you need to be there to feed it.
all cats shed, cats hate kennels....not a good idea
Yes you can cage then but they DO NOT like it. Like some have already said, Hairless are the only ones that don't shed, yet you have to be VERY careful with them. You have to wash your hands before you touch them and they have a lot of health problems. They have VERY sensitive skin. YOu can always get a cat and have it shaved (i've seen it before and we shave our long haired cat in the summer) THey look funny but there is no way to have an animal NOT shed unless it's hairless and has nothing to shed.

Which cat should I get?

Im getting a kitten soon. But I want to get one that will let me do whatever I want to it, play with it, let me brush it, and one that is unique and does crazy things, like play with water, run around crazily, and do fun stuff. I dont want a grumpy cat. And Im sure each type of cat revolves around a certain personality, right? Well, which TYPE of cat do you think fits my description?
Answers:
i have a main coon kitten and a ragdoll cat, they arnt moggy cats they are indoor cats and will let you do what ever to them even hold them like a baby! you can let them outside, we do! so a ragdoll or a maincoon! they are really loveable!

If you get any kitten at a very young age, and get it used to being held, brushed, and played with, it will let you do those things when it grows up.
The Turkish Van likes water. Check the cat fanciers asssociation for info on cat breeds as a starting point. The whiskers site is Australian but has info on cat breeds and personalities of each.
Dunno, most cats have those qualities. if you get it young you can train it to be like that. it depends if you want long or short haired cats. i suggest tabby.
Breed descriptions can give you information about what these cats are like IN GENERAL. That means most of these cats act this way. However, you must realize that each cat will have it's own personality. The personality develops as the kitten grows up and many times will depend on how the kitten or cat is treated. Scottish Folds are supposed to be very laid back cats, quiet and comfortable with children and other pets. Most of the Folds I have are pretty much like that, but I have one that "talks" all the time, which is kinda cute. I have another that is a real "fraidy" cat and wary of everything. With patience we've managed to calm her down a little, but it has taken a long time. We know she'll never be a lap cat. I have another whose life is measured in tummy rubs and does all sorts of funny things. I have another that I consider a "cat's cat", meaning he would never, ever do anything silly. I've found that when a cat is "fixed" it will be less grumpy. I think you'd like to read about cat breeds and cat personalities, so I suggest you go to the library and see what you can find. There is also a website cats.about.com where many questions are answered. Good luck with your new kitten.
Keep in mind, though, most cats won't let you "do whatever you want to it" -- put yourself in the cat's place and think about it. Are you sure you're mature enough to have the responsibility of a kitten? It's not a toy.
Every cat is different I have two cats a domestic short hair she is black and I have a persian. The short hais is very independent and wants to be left alone but the persian loves to be around people and she is crazy. She has the cutest personality and she can be so sweet so, It just kinda depends.
Well i have one rag doll and one samiese the rag doll is actully very crazy and keeps on steeling socks and when i do the laundray and the thing spins she puts her paw on the glass and spin her head she also goes to the bathroom o the roof and well once i accduntully steeped on her tale and she just meowed and still loved me so i recomened rag doll!
I really have NO idea but if you get it as a kitten you can train it to do what you want AND it'll be more close to you! best of luck!!
=]]]]]]]]]]
no matter what type of breed you get if they are kittens they will have a lot of energy and be really playful and loving. their personalities will depend on the type of owner they have I believe. If the owner holds it a lot when they are kittens and play with them they will be the type of cat that likes to be held ect. and congrats on your new kitten
Go to an animal shelter and play with the cats there. Theres so many that need homes and fit your description perfectly!

Which cat pair coexist better ? (adult cats)?

MM,MF,FF or should i just get one
Answers:
If your cats are altered the gender doesn't matter as much as the personality of the cat. If you adopt kittens or young adult cats it will be easier for them to adjust then older cats.
If your cats are not altered you'll want to go with a pair of same gender cats, unless you want kittens too! Unaltered females will go into heat and be noisy and attract males from the neighborhood. Unaltered males will wander farther, get into more fights, and are apt to spray.
Cats are territorial, solitary animals by nature. Some really don't like to be around other cats and some are the best of buddies. Again, it really just depends on personality.
If the cats are neutered it really doesn't matter. If you are introducing two strange adults to each other expect some hissing and spewing
I've always heard that a male and a female will get along better than same sex cats.
its really up to you.
normally adult cats would get mean around the same gender...but if you were to get two males or two females when they are young you wont have any problems.
males tend to be more of lap sitters but females tend to be sharper and smarter [and better mouse and bug hunters]...but dont get a male and a female..trust me i started out with one male and one female and now i have those two plus two 8 month old cats [male and female] and two 9 week old males...
alot of times when people get their male cats neutered they pee doesnt smell as strong...i've had cats all my life and never noticed but some people do.and some people say when you get cats neutered/spayed that they dont want to get outside as much...but i really dont know that from experience..i've never ever gotten any of my cats spayed/neutered and they are fine...except for this time aroudn with 2 sets of 2 babies..lol.but if i were you i wouldnt just get one...its way more fun to have 2 cats.or more in my case.
I've had cats all my life and they've always been one boy and one girl and they usually get along great! I hear two male cats can get nasty because of the territorial instinct in them, but two female cats can get just as bad... so I'd go with one male and one female and if you're worried about kittens just get the cats spayed/neutered. As far as the neutered cat not wanting to go outdoors as much, I don't think that's true, because all of my cats have been spayed/neutered and they just LOVE the outdoors, especially the male, he'll fall asleep on the deck outside, it's so cute!

Which cat litter is the most earth frendly?

The Corn or wheat ones that are flushable and biodegradable
-OR-
The recycled paper litter
-OR-
The one made out of recycled wood (pine)
Answers:
The biodegradable one won't harm the environment, whichever way it is disposed off I suppose....
If you flush it after you use the bathroom yourself (without flushing right away) you don't have to waste extra water for it.
The others are just recycled, you're right.
To be completely honest, I'm not sure (I've no idea what amount of processing is needed for every kind f.i.), but the corn/wheat sounds plausible to me.
The wheat ones.
They are all fine, but I prefer the Swheat scoop. I like the fact that its flushable and clumps.
I really liked.okay no, my cats ONLY accepted feline pine out of all the litters. When I tried the other stuff they would do their business RIGHT BESIDE the litter box!!! Very frustrating few months of trial and error
The recycled wood sounds good to me.
I would say the first one, but I was told you can have plumbing problems if you flush litter that's flushable. I don't know if this is true; I bought Swheat Scoop but couldn't use it because my cat hated it. I ended up donating it to someone who fosters cats.

Where's the best place to put a litterbox when you live in an apartment?

I'm thinking about getting a cat, but I really don't know where to put the litterbox. Is it gross to have it in your living room? I really don't have any place to keep it discreet.
Answers:
Ha! Me too. You have several options.
Bathroom (mine is tiny, so it wouldn't work for me)
Cupboard or closet, I put a brick and taped it so the door was open 5 inches.
Then I found THIS!!!
http://www.amazon.com/good-pet-stuff-hlh...
That's right! It's a litter box!! How's THAT for discrete!!
By the way, in case you couldn't tell, I pretty much LOVE this product. Yep.
first always remember to keep it clean and not stinking ... then remember one rule " out of site out of mind" I have mine behind a chair noone notices it ever.
Living room is fine, as long as it has a cover of come kind (and you clean it regularly).
Carefully remove the door from the cabinet containing the bathroom sink. Put the litterbox in there. You can hang a little curtain if your cat likes his privacy.
My friend keeps it under her sink in the bathroom and just props open the cabinet door so kitty can get in.
we have a large kitchen so we have it in the kitchen, all other places are too small to have it. if that is where you have room for it, have it there, you will see it every day so you won't have to worry about out of sight out of mind and forget about it till it is smelly.
If you have no place to keep it discreet, there are ways to hide it. Drs. Foster and Smith sells a sort of bench in which you can put the box. It has a opening the cat can use and a door you can open to do litterbox maintenance. Or you can find miniscreens behind which you hide the box.
I own a very big house and believe or not I keep it in a discreet corner on my dining room, your bedroom or bathroom is a good option , just get good cat litter and cleaned every day at the same time your house is not going to smell, trust me i have 6 of them inside and all of my friends are amazed in how clean is my house, remember cats are very clean.
Kitchen is not a good place, due to the fact that bacteria can spread from the litter box into food-prep areas. Best to put it in the bathroom, under the sink if possible. If you have a service porch, that's really good, too.
I have mine by the washing machine.
you can really put it anywhere you feel confortable putting it
you could put it behind a couch or under a sink or in a closet
We live in a small apartment as well and keep our litter box in the bathroom. Cats generally like a little privacy when using their box. Litter can also be hard to clean on carpet, much easier to clean in a non-carpeted room in my experience.
I have had many apartment kitties and have always kept the litter box in the bathroom area. It is currently in the bathroom by the toilet.
Previously, in larger bathroomed apartments, I have kept it under the bathroom sink.
I like keeping it in the toilet area to keep the smell confined to an area that is already considered OK to be stinky sometimes, and is deodorized more strongly than the rest of the apartment.
Plus, kittys like their privacy, and since I get mine in there, so do they.
Also makes cleaning litter easy since just scoop and flush.
My current kitten was a stray and was litter trained in one day by (i assume) associating my habits in the area with what it should be doing there also. He has never gone anywhere but in the litter box.
As a bachelor, it also encourages me to keep the bathroom a bit cleaner, since I have to sweep and vacuum more frequently to keep the litter from building up, as well as more hygenic habits for cleaning up around the area to keep my cat clean. My kitty keeps me from being a lazy solo male in some ways.
I have mine in the bathroom between the tub and the sink. This way it's more hidden and out of the way. It is always important to keep the litter box clean though. I also recommend that you buy a febreze or another air freshener.
When I lived in a condo (on one floor), I kept the litter box in one of the bathrooms. It fit between the toilet and the bathtub. I was always having to vacuum litter, but that was fine. The only other places to keep the litter box was the living room or the kitchen, and I didn't want to place the litter box in those locations because it wouldn't look too good. Plus, with the litter box in a bathroom, it provided my cat privacy when she was doing her *business*.
If you don't have any room for a litter box in your bathroom, you can place the box in your living room or bedroom and put a decorative screen in front of it to hide it and provide privacy for your cat. You can buy one of those folding decorative screens at places like Kohl's (if in USA); some decorative screens hold photos.
Well, in an apartment i would say the best place you could put a litterbox would be in a restroom. Because I have a cat and we used to live in an apartment so we put it in the restroom because really if u put it in a room the room will smell really bad after a while. Then we moved into a house and we put it in the laundry room. And dont put it on a carpet because well you know why.Lol

Wheres my cat?

Shes an indoor/outdoor cat and can be out for a few hours at a time. But its been a whole day and shes never left our property and I can't find her and i don't know what to do and im really devasted right now.
Do you think i should put posters out already, its been one whole day.
Also, WHERE DO CATS GO ? not like people really know
fawwwwwk..D:
Answers:
I Think you should wait one more day, at least, maybe 2 more days. Maybe you should put food outside your door. That way she may come back because of the food. You could also walk around you neighbor hood just looking for her. After 2 or 3 days(after putting out the posters) you can go to the animal shelter ans see if anyone has found her. After about 4 days(after putting out the posters) I would suggest putting an ad in the newspaper.
Is there anyplaces that she hangs out? She may be there. Does she like the neighbor's cats? Ask if they've seen her. Check around your yard. Maybe she got hurt some how and i under a bush.
I hope you find your cat! Always have hope!
not a day, my one cat went out for a whoel week, but I think someone took him in, but after 5 days i did call and I was about to put poster up
my cat ran off and got hit by a car better luck 4 your cat
I would give her a whole day and night sometimes they like to wonder and travel. Good luck and hope she's ok.
Sorry to hear about your missing cat - but if you let it out side - even for a second your risking never seeing it again sadly cats meet with automobiles often , other cats , racoons non cat friendly dogs %26 other such potentialy life threatening disasters - if he/ she returns PLEASE only keep your cat INSIDE. Also cats choose their own owners - s o she may have found a new home for herself.
awww i'm sorry i hope you find her...she'll probably be back yet tonight or tomorow morning, cats are like that..she probably out hunting :)
I lost my dog for 5 days in the middle of the winter which included two bad snow storms, and he's just a 12 lb spoiled baby!...I got him back though thank god...he found a tree to cuddle up under and waited for me to come get him only 2 blocks away!!!...
If she's not back by tomorrow night put flyers everywhere with a picture offering a reward...and do you have myspace?-send out messages to everyone in your area!
good luck, i know how you're feeling right now, it's miserable...it's so hard not knowing...
Possibly locked in a person's garage by accident. Maybe when the door opens tomorrow he will get out.
Do you live anywhere near coyotes? I know in So. California, we have alot of coyotes roaming and cats are a easy target for them. Sometimes cats like to explore as well, give it a couple of days, hopefully your kitty will show up, Good Luck!
try the nighbors back yard serch all over your block. u should be searching insted of on the net posting a question, but i understand i guess. just keep up hope . dont put posters out yet just wait a bit she should return ours did in two days on our front door step.
My Daughter and i just went thru the same thing. Our Siamese is Neutered and was gone a whole day -and -a -half,which scared us to death.Put signs up in the morning(we did ,and think a neighbor "borrowed"our kitty, hes beautiful),we had our Cat back almost immediately after doing so.Call local Animal Shelters/Animal Control.I would advise against letting her out in the future.take a deep breathe because you may get lucky.I will never let my cat out again,he's right where he belongs.Good Luck.
Rowan
I have an indoor/outdoor neutered male cat who will sometimes disappear for a day or two, especially during the summer months, and this drove me crazy with all kinds of wild thoughts of what could have happened to him. Turns out he was always just "cattin' around", eating mice, living under someone's porch for a day or two, whatever, I'm not sure. I curbed this behavior by not letting him out after dark. To get him to come, I shake a can of cat treats that he really likes, and eventually he will hear the sound and come running. Then I actually give him some treats (not just use the sound to get him to come) so he learns that he gets rewarded for coming home.
I would suggest trying to calm down, not get yourself in a frenzy with crazy thoughts of where kitty might be. (I know this is hard). Go outside, call her name, maybe shake her food bag or dish or some other sound you know she usually responds to. She may not respond right away, but I have learned this is because they have wandered farther away from home, can't hear, or it just takes them awhile to walk back home. Be patient, do this regularly, see if she comes. It always works for me.
Of course, it cant HURT to put up posters, so if you really feel that would help, then go ahead %26 do it. Ask your neighbors if they have seen kitty. Go for a walk with the food dish, doing the call thing.
Good luck, I hope you find your kitty
My cats don't go outside except for one, but when she goes outside she is on a leash and we go for a daily morning walk. I would ALREADY have the posters up and I would be knocking on all my neighbors door with a picture in hand. Also go to your local shelters with a picture and look there. Don't just call, but go with pictures. The reason I say go and not call is because when I worked at a shelter we took in a dog and his owner was calling everyday to see if anyone turned him in and the person on the phone said no, as it turned out we had his dog at the shelter the whole time. He finally came in with a picture and when I saw the picture I said we have that dog and he has been here for a week. I didn't know he had been calling because I usually took care of the kittys. Good luck finding you kitty.

Where to take 2 stray kittens?

I have just noticed 2 stray kittens, not more than 1yr old that are loose across the street from my work! I work right on a busy road that backs up to an interstate highway! I really dont want to see these kittens hurt, can i just take these little ones to an animal shelter? Where should i take them? Id keep them but i allready have 3 cats and a dog of my own.
Answers:
They won't have much of a chance in a shelter. Try to find an animal rescue group, network with friends or coworkers or others you may associate with at church, clubs, etc to see if you can find them a home yourself. Next option, a no-kill shelter, but know that the "no-kill" words are no guarantee if they become too full or the kittens become ill, %26 then lastly the shelter. Call every rescue group you can first, %26 offer a donation if possible to offset their costs. Also, try to determine if the they are tame or feral (undomesticated/wild)if feral, shelters won't adopt them out as there are more homes than will take the tame ones, ferals don't get much of a chance - but you may be able to find a feral rescue group to spay/neuter/vaccinate them %26 return them or relocate them to a safer area if you could feed them - relocating ferals isn't as easy as it sounds - contact Alley Cat Allies for info on that %26 caring for a cat colony.I feed several colonies of ferals %26 adore them - they fare suprisingly well - some I have cared for as much as 8 years, but it is a big responsibility, as they need food %26 water daily , rain or shine, warm or cold, etc, whether you are sick or well, so you may need a backup person to assist you with their care. The sad fact is there are just more cats than good homes, so do the best you can. You might also discover they have an owner, just not a very responsible one, if so, you might be able to leave a note or talk to them about the dangers cats face when living outside - dogs, cars, cat hating people, diseases, etc.
Take the to the nearest Spca or animal shelter in your area. Tell them your story. They will understand.
Go to yellowpages.com or google no kill shelters in your area. You have two options for exactly how the kittens will get to the shelter. Once you have found a shelter that will take the cats you can
a) catch them yourselves give them a bit of food and drop them off at the shelter later.
b) Call the shelter explain the sistuation and have them pick up the cats.
Hope I could help!
Local humane society
or animal shelter
Try find a no kill shelter in your area which will take them.
Put posters up saying if anybody wants these cats and also put your phone number. If nobody calls in 1-2 weeks you will have to take it to the animal shelter.
if u are sure they are strays take them to the humain society!
Try petfinder.com to find an animal rescue in your area. You can then go to the animal rescue's website to find their policy. Where I live, stray animals have to be reported to animal control, where they're kept for a week and usually put to sleep if unclaimed. However, the rescues around here accept you as owner if you keep the animals for 5 days, bypassing animal control. You may want to try this if this is the policy in your state/county.
animal shelter or RSPCA
If you think about a no kill shelter really check it out first. Sometimes these places are really bad. The people mean well but I think an animal is better off in a humane shelter possibly awaiting death then crammed into some crappy flea ridden no kill shelter.

Where should i store my cat's wet food ?

in the fridge or a cupboard ?
Answers:
If it's already opened, in the fridge. When you want to feed it to your cat, stick it in a microwave safe bowl and heat for a few seconds. It will create aroma and make your kitty excited. If unopened, anywhere you please as long it is temperate.
cover it and keep it in the fridge
fridge
if open in the fridge-covered and if unopened can be kept in the cupboard. Cats actually prefer their food semi warm though. Its the whole predator thing.
Unopened in the cupboard. Opened in the fridge.
Open Fridge, sealed Cupboard
if the can is open store it in the fridge with a cover...it will last about 3-4 days in the fridge... if the can is not open the in the cupboard
if its open.. in the fridge.. with a cap/cover.. usually a dollar at most pet stores.. if unopened.. in a dry spot .. i keep mine in the cupboard, on a shelf above the litter.
If its opened, put a lid on it or put it in an airtight container in the fridge.
Cupboard is fine until it's opened. Once it's opened, it needs to be refrigerated.
Hmmm, I am assuming that you mean once you have opened a can of food, Right? Well, I put mine in the refrigerater so that it doesn't spoil, or attract ants, etc. My cats do not like it cold, so if I can remember to take it out a few minutes before feeding, it is best,, but I always forget. I will leave a can out for several hours, then if I do have leftovers,, it does go into the fridg. I have put cold canned food in the microwave for 5 to 10 seconds just to knock off the chill. Not in the can, of course, and I am very careful to fully check the center of the food by poking my finger into the middle to prevent any - too hot food being given to my kitties. It's handy to have one of the little plastic/rubber like tops that snaps right onto any regular size can of cat food.
Well before it is opened u can store it in the cupboard but after opening put it in the fridge.
When it is not opened in the pantry or cabinet. After it is open it needs to be sealed and put in the fridge.
