My cat just gave birth behind our entertainment center. I made a place for her, but I miscalculated when she was do. She didn't have time to nest there. How long should I wait before moving mommy and babies? They are difficult to get to and I'm afraid of moving them separately. Does anyone have any suggestions

Jeez, I have worked as a Vet Tech at a cat shelter for YEARS and you CAN move them right away! For sanitary reasons, we move them to a clean area right after birth!!

Well i asked the vet about mine i was in the same sittuation he said it would not hurt them as long as they were 4 days old
You might want to just leave them there. Chances are the mom would move them back anyway. It's where the mom feels most comfortable; that's why she had the babies there. But being behind a center like that with cords and outlets and such sticking out, it might be a good idea to move them. Just gently pick one up at a time and hold with 2 hands close to you. Do you have a room they can stay in by themselves? That would be the best. The mother might hiss at you when you go to touch them. Just gently and quietly move each one then get the mama out and put her in the room with them. She should go right to them. If not right away, then help the mom lay down on her side and put each kitten up to her nipples.

You can move them now. Just be gentle. But the mother will probably move them right back to where she had them. And if you keep moving them she will find another place to hide them. My cat did that. It was a pain, but I finally got her to stay in the box I had fixed for her.
You can move them, but you dont have to. Mom will probably keep them clean enough. When a stray we took in had kittens, I did change her towels, but she was on top of it. As soon as she saw the new towel and laid it on the ground, she moved her babies over to that one. Try getting a large cat carrier and luring mom in there, she'll take the kittens for you.
they can be moved anytime..mother cat wants a dark place for them, thus the reason she had them behind the entertainment center. Kittens develop eye infections if they are exposed to bright lights before and during the eye opening time..usually about 10 days old. Enjoy them.
leave the kittens there for a bit an dput the mother cat in the area you wnat them in and she might notice it is cleaner and stuff and move the kittens herself if she doesn't then just move them the mother might get mad but if she knows you and trusts you then she won't mind ok!
Move them whenever you want, but mom may reject them if she's new to it - you don't have to have worked at a vet to know that.
