What is the easiest way to toilet train an adult cat?

I have a 2 year old male and a 1 year old female, both are fixed and I would like to train them to use the toilet in as few steps as possible. I am not at home much of the day as I work and go to school.

You start by bringing the litterbox closer to the toilet each day. When it is close to it, start raising the box up with large books to bring it up higher. Eventually, you will have the box at the same height as the toilet so next step would be to securely place it on the seat. Once the cats are used to this, take the box away, leaving something in the toilet so they get the picture. Hope this works for you.
If they're targeting specific spots, the the best way is to put double sided tape around the area you don't want them to 'go' on. They'll learn no to 'go' on those spots, because they think their paws will get stuck.
You can move the litter box closer and closer and then use a toilet training kit for inside the bowl.

You want to make sure that neither kitty falls in because that could make them too frightened to even use their litter box any longer. Just take your time. Cats are high fear animals and they need to get used to things little by little.
If you push the time too hard, it could backfire.
You will then have to make sure that the cats always have access to the toilet, i.e. the seat has to stay up and the door open at all times.
If you can manage it, it is a very good solution to all the billions of tons of kitty litter out there.
