Whats wrong with my kitten?

Theres something wrong with Jake my 6 week old kitten - his brothers and sisters are fine. Yesterday he wasnt playing like normal and he's gone limp and cold. I took him to the vets and they injected water in him but its not done anything, I'm feeding him kitten milk every 2 hours by syringe, he cant walk and isnt meowing - anyone got any ideas? the vet said he will probably die : (
Answers:
Keep him warm firstly, get a hot water bottle, but make sure you cover it well with thick blanket, then place him on there. You're doing good by keep feeding him and the fact he wants to take milk still is good. Does that mean he isn't feeding from his own mother? Because there's no replacement for their own milk and being with his mother and the others might give him the will to live, he must not give up!!
If the vet injected water in him then he sounds like he's really dehydrated, maybe he needs to go back to the vets (or a different vet). He might need a shot of vitamins too or something, or glucose to stimulate him. My mum used to breed pedigree kittens and a couple of them did seem at deaths door but my mum never gave up hope and tried everything she could. It's tiring and upsetting. She even had one that had brain damage and couldn't walk but she kept with it even though the vet said it would die and it made a massive turn around and ended up fine!!. It's now got a loving home.
To sum up:
Keep feeding yourself if it's not feeding off mother
If mother is there keep kitten with her all the time
Keep kitten warm
Take back 2 vets - there's always something else they can do
Believe in yourself
ps. if the kitten does die then obviously you will feel sad but at least you will have done all you could
The absolute best of luck to you :o)
dont sound good
try and keep him warm
i feel sad, dont kno though
Try wrapping him in a blanket but he doesn't sound too good. Prepare for the worst :(
probably he inherited a sort of sickness from the mother because me myself i had a kitten who act the same as yours but at the end i found out that the mother kitten had a worm in her which was very harmful for the kittens and we didn't had any other solution but let them go..
Try giving him water rather than kitten milk to keep him hydrated. Have you got a specialist cat vet in your area? I would take him for a second opinion rather than give up, if another vet is says the same though - it might be kinder if you have him put to sleep, although I appreciate what a difficult decision that will be for you to make.
Look for blood in his/her stool, or urine, this would be a sign of internal bleeding, and possibly death. Other thing would be to see if kitty has any over the counter kitty medicines to add into that milk your feeling it. also check if it has worms...puss like oozing out of the corner of it's eye's, greenish/yellow colored, this could be a sign of infection. Good Luck
:o( Your doing everything you can. You could try the vet again. Poor mite. If he was the runt of the litter its quite common as they dont get to the food etc. Keep feeding him and loving him to give him the best chance.
Ooo that does not sound so good for your kitten. Have you been petting him when you feed him? Try gently massaging his legs and back to get his circulation going, but if he is still the same or worse tomorrow you should probably take him back to the vet. Is he losing weight? He may have eaten kitty litter. Is he using the litterbox? Pay attention to these things, so that you can tell the vet. Also, Is there a possibility that he could have gotten into something poisonous? Your vet may have a list of common household items that are toxic to cats.
I wish you luck, I know how miserable it can be whena pet is sick. Good luck to both of you.
try putting him on a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel with a blanket over him and continue with the kitty milk!
hope kitty is OK!
good luck!

It looks like the vet did what he could for the kitten. KItten milk will continue to give him liquids. However, you need to believe what the vet is telling you. Sometimes for an unknown reason kittens just fade away. I believe this is called "failure to thrive" or "fading kitten syndrome". (I'm not a vet). No matter how much we want our little pets to live, there doesn't appear to be a lot we can do once their symptoms pass a certain point. When a kitten becomes ill, many times you don't notice until it is too late. One minute they're playing and running around and in the blink of an eye they're down and inactive. At least there is some comfort in knowing you did all you could. Sorry.
is he dead?
It defiantly sounds like a genetic problem possibly inherited from his mother. ill formed genes are recessive so this would explain why only Jake has been targeted.
i would recommend getting a second opinion because the vet, knowing he is that sick and injecting him with water should be keeping him at the vet clinic on a drip. He doesn't sound very professional.
The best you can do for now is to keep him comfortable, supplying a hot water bottle and giving him lots of cuddles is great, make sure he is loved, because love will defiantly make him more strong willed.
I know it sounds bad, but if he gets any worse, have you considered euthanasia. don't let him suffer if there is no chance of recovery.
Ask the vet to hospitalise him, I know sometimes natural selection steps in and takes the ones that might not be properly form, or that are naturally weaker but if you keep your vet on it he wil have the best chance possible.
If mum wint feed him and pushes him out thats a worse sign but you can still hand rear.
If your vet seems uncaring try another one or if in uk ring cats protection league for advice.
Oh, and do get the others checked out.
Your kitten is dehydrated and the reason the vet injected water was to rehydrate the kitten you must keep feeding the milk to the kitten and make sure its kitten fomula most important as it also needs the nutrients.Usually a dehyrated kitten cant meow just keep feeding the milk to him and he will comearound.this happened to 3 of my kittens when my son took his cats here and mother cat stopped feeding them so keep doing what ur doing.Hopefully he will come around.
aww is he the runt one?
My Boy was the runt and he survived. Just keep him warm and hydrated he may survive.
Good luck
