The only place to get ear mite solution is from your vet. The cost will vary at different vet offices. But you need to be sure that is what it is. Perhaps getting a check up with your vet will determine what ear drops are best for your cat. Revolution does help with ear mites, it treats and controls it and is much easier to apply then doing the two drops in the ears which can get messy. You just apply the topical at the base of the neck inbetween the shoulder blades on the cat's skin, NOT the fur. Revolution also helps with fleas, ticks, heartworms, and hookworms so it is the best one to get which is only found at your vet's office. Buying treatments at local stores is not the best thing to do. If you want the best you need to go to your vet. But you need to be sure that it is ear mites. If your cat is constantly scratching and shaking their head, has black crust in their ears it is most likely ear mites. If their ears are red and have an odor it could be a yeast infection or a bacterial infection so it is best to take your cat to the vet before putting things in his ears. :) Goodluck!
The best thing to do is go to your vet and get a tube of Revolution for about 14.00. Just needs to be applied once to treat ear mites. And, are you sure the cat even has ear mites? May have a yeast or bacteria infection.
You should go to the vet. The ones at Walmart, petco, etc you have to put in the ears every two days until the problem clears up. And the stuff isn't even that effective. I think it costs about $9 at Petco. I just got some from my vet a couple of days ago and it was $13. I put one tube of stuff in each ear one time and that's it, problem is solved. This is easier on both you and the cat. Just call the vet and tell them you think the cat has ear mites. You won't even need an appointment. Just pick the stuff up. If you have more than one cat you should treat each cat since ear mites can be contageous.
